Greetings from the President of SSRI

#4
Since the end of last year, more than 43,000,000 people in the world suffered from COVID-19, and it seems not foreseeable to overcome it in near future. The Wuhan virus is outstanding for its high death rate, and many countries are confused in a medical collapse. Rapid expansion of Covid-19 changed from conventional life standard to new-normal life, such as putting on the mask and taking the temperature and washing hands when going out, and holding online meeting and/or symposium in the world. The situation of the world has begun to move more and more dynamically under COVID-19.

Tackling COVID-19 and security issues are the common matter of the mankind's living, and reallocation of international resources and the effective international cooperation are needed in the democratic countries. Intimate cooperation and balance and the conformability between the hierarchy and the local community are asked for all the democratic countries. In other words, we should recognize unity and power balance between the trusted leader in the democratic countries as global issues, then, we will be able to tackle and manage security issues and the new situation with COVID-19.

Under these circumstances, I am very happy and quite agreeable to hold the 4th Japan-Taiwan Strategic Dialogue (JTSD) online in Hakata city, Fukuoka prefecture, between SSRI and TSRA with help of Fukuoka Branch, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka on November 20, 2020. Japan and Taiwan are to understand each other and share the respective traditional knowledge and culture, and to construct a more intimate relationship as soon as possible. I mean we should utilize fruitful outcomes of JTSD for last 2 years to develop further intimate relationship and unity of Japan and Taiwan.

Thank you very much.
